ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To test the acute and chronic toxicity of topical application of 0.5% podophyllotoxin-loaded nanostructured lipid carriers (POD-NLC) to the vaginal mucosa.@*METHODS@#Twelve New Zealand rabbits were randomized into 3 groups and subjected to daily topical applications of normal saline (control group), 0.5% podophyllotoxin tincture (POD-T) or 0.5% POD-NLC on the vaginal mucosa for 10 consecutive days, and the pathological changes in the mucosa were graded using the Eckstein scoring system.The acute toxicity of POD-NLC was tested in 20 SD female rats, which received intravaginal administration of POD-NLC or vehicle for 3 times within 24 h; After 14 days of continuous observation, the rats were dissected for calculating the viscera coefficient.For testing the chronic toxicity of POD-NLC, 80 SD female rats were randomized into 4 groups and subjected to daily intravaginal administration of the vehicle or POD-NLC at low, moderate or high doses for 13 consecutive weeks.The rats were weighed once a week and at the end of the experiment, 2/3 of the rats from each group were sacrificed to collect blood samples, calculate the viscera coefficient, and examine the pathological changes in the liver.The remaining 1/3 rats were observed for another 2 weeks without further drug treatment and the same examinations were performed.@*RESULTS@#In the rabbits, 0.5% POD-NLC elicited only mild irritation while POD-T caused moderate irritation of the vaginal mucosa.In the acute toxicity test, the organ coefficients were comparable between the rats treated with the vehicle and POD-NLC (>0.05).Long-term intravaginal administration of POD-NLC did not produce significant changes in the behavior, activity, body weight, blood biochemical profiles or organ coefficient as compared with the vehicle control group (>0.05).@*CONCLUSIONS@#Intravaginal administration of 0.5% POD-NLC causes very mild irritation without obvious acute or chronic toxicity to the vaginal mucosa in rabbits and rats.

ABSTRACT

Purpose To compare the distribution of 23 kinds of human papillomavirus ( HPV) genotypes in tissues of condyloma acu-minata ( CA) of cervix in 120 women and its clinical significance. Methods Polymerase chain reaction ( PCR) and gene-chips tech-nology were utilized for the detection of 23 kinds of HPV genotypes in tissue specimens from 120 cases of CA in cervix and related ma-terials of all subjects were conducted and analyzed. Results There were 115 positive cases in 120 women with CA in cervix and the rate of total HPV infection was 95. 83% (115/120). The rate of single type was 70. 83% (85/120) and multiple types was 25. 00%(30/120). The predominant type of single infection was HPV11 and the infective rate was 45. 00% (54/120), followed by HPV6 (22. 50%, 27/120). Otherwise, the predominant type of multiple infections was HPV6+11 with the infective rate of 20. 00% (6/30), and HPV11+16 infection accounted for 10. 00% (3/30). Conclusions HPV11, 6, 6+11 and 11+16 are the main genotypes in the pathogenesis of CA in cervix in 120 women. PCR and gene-chip technology can detect single and multiple HPV genotyping in tis-sues of CA in cervix with high sensitivity and specificity. Detection of HPV genotypes could be used to understand the prevalence situa-tion of HPV infection in tissues of CA and tumors of cervix and further to provide references for the research and development of HPV vaccine in women.

ABSTRACT

[Objective] To observe the clinical effect of Bupleurum injection external application applied to female genital condyloma accuminatum cases. [Methods] From January 2010 to June 2013,we studied 60 female genital condyloma accuminatum cases in the outpatient department of our hospital, these cases were randomly divided into two groups:group A(Bupleurum injection group) and group B(ShuRun suppository, namely a-2a interferon suppository group), the clinical curative effect of the two groups was observed. [Results] After treatment, group A,30 cases in al ,9 cases had complete recovery,12 cases had some effect,9 cases were invalid, the total effective rate was 70%; group B,the total of 30 cases,6 cases had complete recovery, 7 cases had some effect, 17 cases were invalid, the total effective rate was 43.3%, group A in the treatment of female genital condyloma acuminatum had better effect than the group B(P0.05). [Conclusion] Bupleurum injection for treating female genital condyloma acuminatum has better clinical efficacy, can be considered for clinical use.

ABSTRACT

El presente trabajo se refiere a las lesiones por verrugas anogenitales producidas por el virus de papiloma humano (HPV) en niños. Describe el diagnóstico, la epidemiología, los modos de transmisión, los diagnósticos diferenciales y su relación con el cáncer a largo plazo; también, la presencia de verrugas anogenitales como indicador de abuso sexual infantojuvenil. Finalmente, incluye sugerencias para el pediatra en el manejo de estos pacientes y sus familias.


This article deals with anogenital warts (AGW) injuries caused by human papiloma virus (HPV) in children. Diagnosis, epidemiology, modes of transmission, differential diagnosis, relationship between AGW and cancer are descript. Also, it remarks the presence of AGW as indicator of child sexual abuse. Finally, it includes suggestions for the management of patients and their families by the paediatrician.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the therapeutic efficacy of HPV16 E7 peptide pulsed dendritic cells (DCs) in recurrent condyloma acuminate (CA). Methods A total of 32 cases of recurrent CA (more than 3 times) were divided into the treatment group and the control group. Patients (11 cases, HPV16 +and HLA A2 +) in the treatment group received treatment with DCs, while the other 21 cases in the control group were treated with interferon. A follow up of 6 months was conducted in all patients. The pathological lesions, the peripheral T cell subpopulations of the patients, and the therapeutic efficacy before and after treatment were observed. Results The size of the lesions became smaller or disappeared in the treatment group. The infiltrated lymphocytes increased, but the koilocytotic cells decreased in the lesions. No significant change in the peripheral T cell subpopulations was found before and after therapy. The recurrence rates in the treatment group and the control group were 18.2% and 61.9%, respectively. Conclusion The therapy by E7 peptide pulsed dendritic cells can improve the local immune status in the skin and reduce the recurrence rate significantly in patients with recurrent CA.
